New Ultrathin Laptop

Dell is planning to release a new ultrathin 15.6 inch laptop later this month. It will be the first in a line of laptops that are designed in the spirit of the company's Adamo brand, which has been discontinued, and it will be one of the thinnest in its class of large-screen laptops.

The laptop is built around the latest Intel "Sandy Bridge" Core i5 and i7 processors, and will feature a high-resolution display for just under $1,000. The Adamo laptops, along with the original MacBook Air, were criticized for lackluster performance, but this new ultrathin laptop has been designed specifically to remedy these concerns. The larger screen size elevates this laptop above the MacBook Air, which has to date been the gold standard for the ultrathin laptop class. The largest available Air features a 13.3 inch screen, and the ultrathin Samsung Series 9 features a 13.3 inch screen as well.
