Osram, a unit of the German industrial group Siemens, charges Samsung LED and LG of violating patents on LED lighting, which is commonly used in television sets and computer display screens.
Samsung LED Co., Ltd. issued the following statement in response to Osram's latest legal complaint alleging patent violations. "We are aware of the press release from Osram reporting its legal actions against Samsung LED and Samsung Electronics in South Korea. We have not received the legal documents.
However, Samsung LED previously sued Osram in Korea and the United States to stop Osram from infringing Samsung LED patents and to invalidate Osram's patents. Osram's actions in South Korea are a typical and expected response to Samsung's legal actions and appear to be an attempt to delay Samsung LED's infringement action against Osram in Korea.
